JAMMU, June 12: Association of Industries (AOI), Gangyal in Jammu has welcomed the package of incentives announced by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Industries and Commerce, Government of India for the J&K State.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of its president Balbir Kumar Gupta, the members extended gratitude to the Government and said that incentives shall definitely encourage the new investments in the State which shall be helpful in creating job opportunities in the State.
The Association, however, felt that this incentive was too little as the package has been granted for five years from June 15, 2012 which means that practically it was granted just for four years. It said that the industry needs sufficient time and long plan for the new ventures. The members demanded that this incentive should be at least for ten years.
The members of the Association were highly pained to note that much awaited Income Tax exemption and freight subsidy to and fro Delhi and locations was not granted. They demanded that some package of incentives must be formulated for sustenance of the existing industry in the State.
Prominent among those present included S B Abrol, Jugal Kishore, Virendra Jain, Lavinder Singh Puri, R P Sethi, Rajesh Jain, Sunil Gandotra and Bipin Sharma.
