Illicit liquor kilns smashed, 4 bootleggers arrested

REASI, May 18: In its drive against illicit liquor, Police today smashed two hooch manufacturing units and arrested four bootleggers.
Even as the bootleggers tried to attack the raising team, the operation was successfully conducted and all the accused were arrested.
Reports said that team of Police Post Dera Baba conducted raids on a river island in river Chenab and smashed two illicit liquor distillation units. Tools and utensils, including 15 drums of 2200 liters capacity, a tub, and 12 plastic cans of 10 liters capacity each used for storing and transporting hooch along with 15 liters of illicit liquor were recovered and seized from the spot. Besides, 2000 liters of Lahan, which was kept for fermentation, was destroyed on the spot.
The arrested bootleggers were identified as Charan Singh, his brother Gulwinder Singh, Surjeet Singh, son of Gulwinder Singh, all residents of Bhabbar Brahamana and Tarlok Chand son of Ram Saran of Tanda.
In this connection, a case FIR number 102/2021, under section 353, 336, 307 IPC, 48(e) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
Pertinent to mention that accused Gulwinder Singh is a habitual offender and was already arrested in case FIR number 141/2018, under section 48(b) (e) Excise Act of Police Station Reasi and has been facing trial in court of law.
