Bilal Ahmed Beigh-a resident of Gulshan Abad Hyderpora- along with other family members of a man identified as Fayaz Ahmed Beigh who was allegedly murdered appeared in the Press Enclave and raising slogans, seeking justice and appealing to the police to intervene in the matter.
The aggrieved family alleged that Parimpora Police Station is resorting to dilly dally tactics and is not arresting the murder accused. The family members said that the police inaction forced them to come out to protest.
“My brother Fayaz Ahmed Beigh, an auto driver by profession was found dead near Shalteng area of Srinagar outskirts and when the police came to know about it, they took the body for post-mortem,” he said.
He said that the report revealed that an injury on his head was the cause of his death. “We doubt that he has been murdered by one who approached him at Hyderpora auto stand and asked him to drop him at Shalteng,” Bilal said while adding that the incident happened on April 28.
He said the accused who happens to be their neighbour has “most likely killed him as my brother was carrying cash with him.”
The family members said that CCTV footage indicates that the accused was travelling in the auto-rickshaw of the deceased. “The police have arrested the accused but later he was released,” Bilal said.
Bilal said that if his brother had died naturally, he would not have been having the injury marks on his head. “If we assume that he was injured in an accident, but his auto didn’t have any such signs,” he said.
The family members said that they appeal to IGP Kashmir to personally intervene in the matter and get the accused arrested and deliver justice to them.
