87 bovines rescued, 8 held

JAMMU, June 13: Police today rescued 87 bovine animals and arrested eight smugglers from Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police parties from Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli police stations laid nakas and intercepted eight trucks bearing registration number JKO2AF-9327, JKO2AD-3375, JKO2AD 3643, JK14C-3833, JKO2AW-0773, JKO2T-3375 and JKO8A-8858.
During checking, police rescued 87 bovine animals and arrested eight smugglers, who have been identified as Liyaqat Ali of Rangoora, Khalid Hussain of Juda, Mahore, Shabir Ahmed of Batote, Junaid Ali of Dabler, RS Pura, Javed Ahmed of Kukernag, Showkat Ahmed of Doru, Mohd Rafiq of Kathua and Nazakat Ali of Bajalta.
Cases under FIR numbers 175/13 and 78/13 have been registered at Nagotra and Jhajjar Kotli police stations and investigation started.
Police parties led by SHOs OP Chib and Parvez Sajjad made the arrests under the direct supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary.
