UDHAMPUR, May 21: Expressing serious concern over deaths of people due to COVID-19, former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia has charged the administration with failure in taking timely steps to control the spread of pandemic and save the lives.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Mr Mankotia alleged that the number of COVID deaths was increasing because neither ventilators were commissioned in the hospital nor the oxygen plant was started.
“The administration is completely responsible for the situation and needs to explain why there was delay in starting the oxygen plant,” he said and claimed that the machinery for the oxygen plant in Udhampur hospital was returned overnight.
Mankotia alleged that the administration kept waiting for more deaths of people in the second wave of COVID, which came to J&K and Udhampur in later stage.
Drawing attention towards washing away of half-burnt dead bodies in Devika following heavy rain two days back, Mr Mankotia alleged that it happened because of loot by the administration in the Devika project.
