Lakhanpur police rescues 12 bovine animals

KATHUA, May 21: To contain the activities of bovine smuggling in the district under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua RC Kotwal, district police today foiled bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur, rescued 12 bovines and seized the vehicle involved.
As per reports a team of PS Lakhanpur led by SHO Inspector Sumeet Sharma under the supervision of DySP, DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during routine naka checking duty at Lakhanpur noticed one suspicious truck bearing registration Number,JK02AS-9137 being driven by unknown person which was on its way from Punjab towards Kathua. It was signalled to stop for checking. On seeing Naka party, driver parked the vehicle far behind the Naka point and managed to flee away.
During checking of the vehicle, 12 bovines were found loaded in it illegally. Meanwhile vehicle was seized and 12 bovines were rescued.
In this connection a case FIR No 70/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
