Strengthen distt hospitals to ease load on GMCs, SKIMS: Kavinder

JAMMU, May 22: There is dire need to strengthen the health edifice at the district hospitals to lessen the mounting pressure on Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) of Jammu and Srinagar and SKIMS Soura due to unprecedented surge in the Coronavirus cases.
This was said by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta while addressing media persons here today. Arvind Gupta, State secretary and Naresh Singh, Vaccine Incharge, J&K, were also present.
The senior BJP leader said that Government should not waste even a jiffy in ramping up the healthcare facilities in the peripheral hospitals to alleviate gigantic amount of stress on the premier health institutes in Jammu and Srinagar on account of second wave of the lethal virus Corona.
Taking up the issue of number of ventilators including those procured under PM Cares Fund lying defunct in GMC&H Jammu, the BJP stalwart said that immediate steps should be taken to appoint the requisite technical staff in the hospital to bring to life these ‘dead’ equipments having potential to save lives of the patients. He said that authorities’ indifference in utilizing these life saving equipments during the hour of crisis is not at all justified and things should be rectified as soon as possible.
“Dearth of senior doctors could be addressed by requesting those medicos who are superannuating in the coming months to offer voluntary services till December 2021 to supplement the workforce and help surmount the biggest challenge the humans are facing in over last hundred years”, he said, adding that thinking out of box can only bring some respite from the prevailing tense situation due to inception of the second wave of corona pandemic.
Kavinder said there is urgent need to make fast track recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff to cater to the needs of the people looking into the dangers involved in probable third wave of this ruthless virus which has already wreaked havoc in UT of J&K and elsewhere.
