Srinagar, June 13: Police have arrested one Ashok Kumar for defrauding a person and recovered Rs one lakh from his possession.
Police sources said that Kumar had promised one Adil Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmad of Nowgam a job in Military Engineering Service (MES) and had taken Rs one lakh from him.
Farooq Ahmad working in Civil Defence in Haft Chinar had paid the money to Kumar on behalf of his son. Police Station Shergarhi arrested Kumar resident of Bishna Jammu after Fraooq lodged a formal complaint with it.
Police raided house of a person in Rambagh to whom Kumar had given Rs one lakh. Police have asked that person to return Rs one lakh and he has assured to hand it over to police tomorrow.
Kumar was working with the army in 2-FOD and was terminated from service in 2010 for unauthorised absence.
