JAMMU, June 13: With the mission to uplift Urdu language among the masses and encourage the upcoming poets and writers of various languages Adbi Kunj, a multilingual literary organisation held a special composite Mehfil-e-Mushaira here today at its literary centre in New Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School (Zee-Pre-Kidzee), Talab Tillo.
The poetic meet was presided over by an eminent Punjabi poet and Short Story writer, Dr Baljit Raina while a Sanskrit scholar, Pt Vinay Shastri was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Talib, president of the organization threw light on the various aspects of Qafia and Radif in Ghazal writing.
The Mushaira started with the melodious voice of singer poet Ved Upal, who sang a Urdu and a Punjabi Ghazal.
The other poets who recited their verses included Santosh Shah Nadam, (Kashmiri/Urdu), Neelam Verma (Dogri), Raj Kumari Sehgal (Hindi), M L Puri (Urdu), Dr Baljit Raina (Punjabi), K L Dewana (Hindi), Pt Vinay Shastri (Sanskrit), Dr Bharat Bhushan Gupta (Urdu), Jaswant Singh (Urdu), Sanjeev Kumar (Hindi), Kimti Lal Dubay (English), Rajeev Kumar (Dogri), Abdul Jabar Butt (Urdu), Romesh Rahi (Dogri), Manzoor Badana (Gojari) and Sham Talib (Urdu-Dogri).
