Pensioners’ woe

Sir,
This is with reference to the Editorial and a number of letters approved in your esteemed newspaper during the current month regarding pensioners verification.
It is said that absolute powers make a manbrute and blind and this dictum equally holds good in the instand case. Instead of re-visiting the archaic rule of pensioners verification and carrying out necessary  modifications thereto make it pensioner friendly and to commensurate  it with the changing times especially presently high tech age, the high headed top bureaucrats including our revered elected representatives heading the Deptt of Finance have insisted upon  reverification.
Physical verification in each and every pensioners case was carried out not more than a year ago. Ink has not yet dired down. At that time lots of problems were faced by these senior citizens and going by the resultant hue and cry some relaxations were made both in time and verification format. It was then given out that the verification documents would be computerised avoid any complication and harassment  to the pensioners. But alas! these top bureaucrats have  neither learnt any lesson nor done anything tangible in this regard except creating problems-after-problems for these aged pensioners.
Yours etc…….
