Srinagar, May 26 : Apprehending that the Government may give extension to Director SKIMS Professor A G Ahangar, at least 26 senior faculty members and HoDs of various departments of the Institute have written a letter to the Chief Secretary demanding that the post of Director should be advertised as soon as possible.
As per the letter, the senior faculty members and HoDs have brought to the notice of Chief Secretary that vide Government order dated 9-October-2019, Prof. A G Ahangar’s term as Director SKIMS and ex-Officio Secretary to Government completes on June 25, 2021.
“We were expecting an advertisement notification for the selection of the post since the completion of the tenure of the incumbent is approaching,” reads the letter.
“In case no selection process is held well in time, many of us will get deprived of an opportunity to participate in the process and elevation to the post which will adversely affect smooth functioning of our departments and patient care in particular.”
They urged the Chief Secretary to take cognizance and issue instructions for the appointment of next SKIMS Director and the Ex-Officio Secretary to Government.
As per the seniority list former Director Omar Javed Shah is the senior most professor who is retiring in December this year. He is followed by Dr Tarriq Gojwari, Dr Bashir A Laway, Dr S R Masoodi, Dr Gull Mohammad, Dr G N Lone, Dr Altaf Omar Ramzan, Dr Altaf Hussain Shah, Dr G M Gulzar and Dr Pir Afroz in seniority list with date of retiring August 2022, March 2024, Feb 2025, December 2021, March 2023, July 2022, July 2022, May 2024, November 2025 and March 2023 respectively.
A senior Faculty member said that Professor Ahangar is trying hard to get extension as Director SKIMS.
