JAMMU, June 14:  While expressing apprehensions about the Union Government’s peace process in militancy ravaged J&K  Panun Kashmir today urged the Government to review the same as it has proven inimical to national interests.
Talking to reporters here, today PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo said it has been witnessed so far that every time when peace process was announced, the cycle of terrorism resurfaced in the State. So it is high time for Government of India (GoI) to review the peace process, he added,
He demanded that such a mechanism for peace process be adopted which in the long run will be in the interests of India.
Dr Chrungoo while criticising the back channel diplomacy started over last 15 years ago in the State, said it is not transparent and instead has boosted the subversive thinking in the State. He demanded that the issues discussed in the back channel diplomacy be kept before the people of the country.
He said how Government claims that the peace process was going in right direction as during the recent killing of LeT terrorist Hilal Ahmed in Srinagar, the hardliner Hurriyat leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani said that he was killed in a fake encounter while at the same time his family termed him (Hilal) as Shaheed (martyr) and people resorted to shut down in Pattan area of Baramulla district of North Kashmir against his killing.
Strongly opposing the revocation of AFSPA, Dr Chrungoo said  the LoC is attacked from one end to other end and infiltration across the border continues, under such circumstances revocation of AFSPA can prove suicidal.
Urging GoI to change its week-kneed policy in tackling terrorism in J&K, he warned that the situation in Pakistan is changing fast for worst and it is preparing for a war against India.
Senior KP leader O N Chrungoo, PK Political Affairs Committee Chairman Dr M K Teng and PK general secretary  Kuldeep Raina were also present in the press conference.
