RAJOURI, May 27: A pregnant woman was died in accident while two others including her minor son seriously injured when a Tata Sumo vehicle rolled down into a gorge at Shahdara Chowk, Thannamandi town today.
Official sources said that incident took place at around 10 am at Tempo/ Sumo stand Thannamandi. The Tata Sumo bearing registration No. JK02AD/ 1786 in which three persons were on board, rolled down into the gorge due to the alleged negligence of driver.
While Shamim Akhtar was killed in the mishap, her husband Makhan Shah and their minor son, residents of Mangota were critically injured. They were rushed to CHC Thannamandi and later referred to GMC Rajouri. The woman was pregnant and her baby also died in the womb, the sources said.
The police has registered a case in this connection. The locals have demanded that this Sumo/Tempo Stand be shifted to somewhere else as several accidents of similar nature took place there on earlier occasions as well.
