SRINAGAR, May 29: Authorities today stopped the operations that were going on to illegally set up a brick kiln in Panzath Wapora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag.
As per officials, some individuals were trying to set up the brick kiln without proper permission and NOCs from the concerned departments before starting the work, however, after the locals complained about it, the concerned officials swung into action.

The locals said that the concerned individuals used to carry out the work during the night in total violation of the rules and regulations and the same was brought to the notice of the police and the concerned officials in the tehsil.
“We will not let these people resort to such illegalities; in this regard, we also informed the concerned officials but these violators did not budge; now today they came stopped the work immediately,” the locals said
Tehsildar Qazigund, Showkat Ahmad Rather told Excelsior that they have been asking the violators to stop the work, but, he said they did not budge prompting them to go the extra mile.
“We have been going there, warning them but still, they carried on, but today along with the concerned SHO we stopped the work, we will also take legal action against them,” he said.
He said that people who were found working on the spot fled while the efforts are on to nab them.
“We would have arrested them but they fled from the spot. As of now, they do not have any permission for the work and is illegal. We will write to the police for the lodging of the FIR into the matter,” he said.
However, later in the evening, 4 people involved in the illegal work were arrested by the police.
