Poppy cultivation over 30 kanals destroyed

Srinagar, May 29: Police along with the officers from the Revenue and Excise Department today destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 30 kanals of land in Budgam and Kulgam area.
The police said that in Budgam, a Police party from Khansahib headed by SDPO Khansahib and SHO along with officers from Revenue and Excise departments destroyed poppy cultivation spread over more than 07 kanals of land at Shuroo, Khansahib area of Budgam.
In another action, a police party from Police Station Beerwah headed by SHO PS Beerwah along with Tehsildar Beerwah destroyed poppy cultivation spread over more than 13 kanals of land at Puchgund and Bonihama, Beerwah areas of Budgam.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 104/2021, 67/2021 & 68/2021 under relevant sections of laws have been registered in respective police stations in this regard.Similarly in Kulgam, a police party from Police Station DH Pora headed by SHO along with officers of Revenue and Eexcise departments destroyed poppy cultivation spread over nearly 10 kanals of land at Samnoo area of Kulgam.
A case vide FIR No. 56/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS DH Pora and investigation has been initiated.
Police said that the public of the areas have appreciated the actions of police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
