Veteran writer J N Sagar passes away

JAMMU, May 29: Veteran writer, scholar and poet Jagar Nath Kaul Sagar breathed his last after a brief illness at Chandigarh. He was 83. His cremation took place at Bantalab Cremation Ground.
An ace writer Sagar was an authority on several languages including Kashmiri, Hindi, Urdu and Persian. He was also author of several books and short stories. Among his highly acclaimed writings in Kashmir included Nov Partav, Paredh Chi, Bandh Basher etc. A former Principal, Sagar was a progressive writer whose writings were touching the heart of readers.
He was a well respected person in the literary circles of the J&K UT. He is survived by his wife and three sons. A resident of Manzgam, Noporabad in Kulgam district of South Kashmir, Sagar had migrated to Jammu after the mass exodus of the minority community in Valley during 1990 but he had still maintained a good rapt with literary circles in Kashmir as well as majority community of his area. He was also recipient of many awards from literary and cultural organizations for his service to literature in general and Kashmiri language in particular.
