JAMMU, May 29: Bagh-e-Bahu and Gandhi Nagar Police today recovered large quantity of illicit liquor and arrested one person.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu led by SHO Inspector Kirti Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a scooty.
During checking, police team recovered around 8 litres of illicit liquor packed in two cans and arrested the rider, who was identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Qasim Nagar district Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 50/2021 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Bharat Sharma conducted raid in a house and recovered 79 bottles of illicit liquor.
The accused identified as Kamaljeet Singh alias Lamba Sonu, son of Surinder Singh of Sector 7 Nanak Nagar fled away from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 171/2021 under Sections 188, 269 and 270 IPC and 48 (a) and 50 (a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
