MIET organises 2nd Edition of TEDx event

JAMMU, May 30: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized the second edition of TED event under the licensed name TEDxMIETJammu in the virtual mode.
The event started with the welcome address by Prof Ankur Gupta Director MIET who announced the theme for the event which was followed by the opening remarks for the event by Dr Ankita Nanda, TEDx Curator and Head of Department, MIET School of Management.
The invited speakers included Kapil Arora, Iron Man, Author and Fit India Ambassador, Prasanna Veeraswamy, Seasoned Technology Leader and Serial Traveller, Vanika Choudhary, Founder Sequel, Vishal Bindra, Founder and CEO, ACPL System and Captain Zoya Aggarwal, Air India.
Kapil Arora in his talk shared his journey from fat to fit, from being able to run for 3 minutes only to completing the Iron Man race including a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and a full marathon of 42 km, which he completed in under 15 hours. He shared his key learning including avoiding procrastinating, acting on your dreams and making incremental progress.
The second talk was by Prasanna Veeraswamy, Seasoned Technology Leader and Serial Traveller who shared his journey of how being a part of the corporate world he managed to travel more than 200 countries and 500 plus cities.
The next talk was by Vanika Choudhary, Founder Sequel who talked of her journey from the corporate world to the founder of SEQUEL, a chain of farm to table restaurants in Mumbai using only organic produce.
Vishal Bindra, Founder and CEO, ACPL Systems spoke about how he forayed into cyber security when he read about “computer virus” in a magazine article in his youth, in spite of not being an engineer.
Captain Zoya inspired the audience by sharing her stories on leading the all women flight on the longest route from San Francisco to Bengaluru, a 17 hour non-stop flight or flying sorties worldwide during the pandemic to bring back stranded Indians.
The event live stream was viewed by over 2000 people. It was hosted by Dr Deeksha Singh, Assistant Professor, MIET School of Management.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Ankita Nanda.
