JAMMU, May 30: Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad today addressed virtual meeting of senior Congress leaders including former DyCM, Tara Chand besides several former ministers, legislators, party leaders from PCC, DCC and members from local bodies.
Azad, who is Chairman AICC Taskforce Covid Relief Measures Committee of India, took review of party activities in J&K with regard to the Covid pandemic and also directed the members to reach out to the needy people and assist them during this time of crisis.
AICC leader also enquired from the Congress leaders about the ways and means being adopted to reach out the people in this hour of crisis of Covid-19 and relief being distributed in their respective areas. Azad passed on instructions to all the participants and other activists to help the needy people. Some local issues were also discussed.
During the meeting the party leaders also paid tributes to Prof MM Bhardwaj, father of senior Congress leader MK Bhardwaj (Advocate), who died few days back after brief illness.
Azad described the death of Prof Bhardwaj as great loss to the Education sector as a whole. He described him as a briliant and upright person. His death has created a big gap which is difficult to be filled, he added.
A two-minute silence was observed to pay respect to the noble soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
The virtual meet, besides former DyCM, Tara Chand was also attended by Peerzada Mohd Sayed, Taj Mohi- ud-Din, GM Saroori, RS Chib, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Jehangir Mir, Ch Gharu Ram, Vikar Rasool Wani, Dr ML Sharma, Ch Akram, Mohd Amin Butt, Ashok Dogra, KC Baghat, Subash Gupta, GN Monga, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Hyder Malik, Balwan Singh, Birender Singh Bindu, Sham Baghat, Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, M Anwar Butt, Anyatulla Rather, S Amolak Singh, Ashok Sharma, Jai Singh, HL Abrol, Rajinder Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Surinder Gupta, Varun Magota, Sarvesh Gupta, Subash Baghat, Sunil Kumar, Shakeel Shah, Brij Sharma, Gaurav Chopra and Ch Sobat Ali.
