Srinagar, May 31: Jammu and Kashmir College Contractual Teachers Association (JKCCTA) today expressed shock and grief over the Kulgam suicide incident and termed it as an eye-opener for the authorities.
In a statement issued here, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Wani, President JKCCTA and Chief Spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee said that it is not a suicide “but an attempted murder”.
Dr Wani said that they have been reminding the authorities about the “highhandedness” of some officers who have been “playing” with the future of the thousands of candidates.
“The incident this should be an eye-opener for the higher authorities and stop what is coming next i.e., a mass suicide by the college contractual teachers who have been working in the system for last 20 years and are without salaries from last two years,” he said.
He said that despite working on court directions in the department, some people have “sabotaged” the whole system and are “forcing” the highly qualified people to go for extreme measures.
Dr Wani said that on behalf of the college contractual faculty, he is warning the Government that there “will be mass suicides in the near future as the college contractual faculty is without salaries from the last two years.”
He said that these people are “traumatized” and “harassed” by the department, especially the “director college who is responsible for the mess.”
Dr Wani further said: “This is a wake-up call for the department and the authorities as the game is slipping from my hands and I am losing control over my people.”
