SAMBA, May 31: Sarpanch, several Panchayat members and locals took out protest march at Ghagwal town and then held demonstration outside the office of BDO, Ghagwal in district Samba today.
Reports said people from Ghagwal and adjoining areas assembled at open space near Narsingh Ji temple, Ghagwal in the morning. Then led by Sarpanch, Bimla Devi and some other Panchayat members, the people including many women took out a protest march in the main bazar.
They were shouting slogans against BDO Ghagwal, ACD concerned, MLA Hiranagar and other higher officers of the Rural Development Department. After passing through main market, they reached at BDO office in the town and then held massive protest demonstration followed by dharna.
The Sarpanch alleged that BDO was not taking into confidence the Sarpanch and other Panchayat members and imposing his own decisions on Panchayat members. She alleged that BDO is only working on the behest of the MLA Hiranagar Durga Dass and while making plans of new works, the Panchayat members are being ignored. She condemned the bias attitude of the Block Development Officer. The protesters demanded immediate removal of BDO and intervention of senior RDD officers into the matter. After staging protest-dharna for about an hour, they dispersed.
