JAMMU, June 5: Alleging conferment of multifarious facilities upon the Ex-MLAs/Ex-Ministers and even petty workers of BJP by the Govt, abusing the public exchequer, the JKNPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh today appealed the new Chief Secretary to take immediate measures to check the loot of tax payers’ money by the leaders and workers of saffron party.
Addressing the media, Harsh Dev expressed his dismay over the undue favours and illegitimate benefits conferred upon the political persons owing allegiance to BJP and JKAP. “It was shocking to note that BJP leaders who were not holding any position in Government and fell in common man’s category were occupying not only ‘Special Type’, ‘A-type’ Estates mansions but many of them were still living in Ministerial Bungalows. While the opposition leaders including Ex-Ministers and heads of recognized political parties were hounded out of Estates quarters’ years back through police force, the BJP and JKAP workers were allowed to retain the same thereby providing the most glaring example of Govt’s dictatorial and autocratic policies besides being indicative of patronized corruption in J&K”, Harsh Dev said.
Singh said that replies received by him in response to RTIs revealed that several BJP workers have been allotted Estates bungalows which continue to be retained by them in violation of all norms and stipulated procedures. It was further shocking to note that the concerned authorities had allowed the BJP leaders to retain the said Estates bungalows despite categoric orders of their eviction issued repeatedly by the High Court. Even Apni Party had been conferred undue favours by allotting govt accommodation for its political office by defying the orders of the High Court.
Meanwhile, thousands of backdoor appointments having been made during BJP-PDP rule had failed to elicit any response from vigilante organizations. The new CS has a greater responsibility in the present scenario of cleansing the augean stables, asserted Singh.
Seeking a high level probe preferably through CBI into the whole gamut of illegal allotments of govt bungalows, huge encroachments of govt lands and properties and illegal allotment of govt vehicles besides huge contingents of police for household works to BJP leaders, Singh called for punitive action against the officers who were acting more as BJP servants than public servants.
