JAMMU, June 8: Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ featured an enterprising alumni of National School of Drama, Bhasha Sumbli today who shared her inspirational thoughts with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu.
Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that this talk show would feature acclaimed young voices of theatre spread across the country who have earned a distinctive name for themselves as actors, directors, designers or technicians through their outstanding contribution in the field of contemporary theatre.
He asserted that the new generation of Indian theatre practitioners are not only well qualified but are also globally exposed and hoped that this effort of Natrang will enliven theatre activity in India which otherwise is almost ceased because of the Corona crisis.
Born in Srinagar, J&K, Bhasha started theatre under the guidance of stalwarts of Kashmiri folk theatre like Sh. Moti Lal Khemu. She wrote her first play at the age of 15 and later many of her plays got published in national journals. Her research articles on Ancient and Popular Theatre forms have been published in ‘Rang Prasang’ of National School of Drama.
In an edifying conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Natrang’s senior artist Anil Tickoo, Basha narrated her eventful journey of theatre. Being daughter of prominent literary personalities Agni Shekhar and Kshama Kaul, Bhasha inherited literary and artistic sensibilities from a very young age and she cheerfully asserts that the vivid relation between literature and theatre has made her theatre journey meaningful and easy.
Natrang’s dedicated team which is managing this national event includes Neeraj Kant, Anil Tickoo, Sumeet Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Vikrant Sharma, Mohammad Yaseen, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Vrinda Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Gauri Thakur and Chander Shekhar.
Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Yuva Bismillah Khan Awardee Manish Joshi Bismil would be featured in this talk show tomorrow.
