Two women dead in Ladakh, 90 positive

JAMMU, June 11: Nine persons, five of them women and father-son duo, died and 244 tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today.
Two deaths each were reported from Jammu and Rajouri districts and one each in Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi, Doda and Poonch districts.
A Judicial employee succumbed to COVID-19 in Ramban district. His father had also died of the virus.
Five women who died of Coronavirus in the region include 58-year-old from Kunjwani in Jammu, 60-year-old from Kishtwar, 60-year-old from Champa in Doda, 88-year-old from Pora Kotla Ransoo in Reasi and 70-year-old from Tarkassi Kandi in Rajouri district.
Other deaths in the region include 57-year-old man from Janipura Jammu, 75-yerar-old from Bajabain Kangri in Rajouri, 90-year-old from Lahari in Doda and 85-year-old from Kamsar in Poonch district.
Nine deaths have taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2022. Maximum 1114 deaths have been reported in Jammu district followed by 200 in Rajouri, 147 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 116 Samba, 94 Doda, 82 Poonch, 58 Ramban, 41 Reasi and 39 in Kishtwar district.
Among 244 fresh cases, 53 were reported in Jammu district, 43 Poonch, 39 Rajouri, 21 each Doda and Samba, 19 Udhampur, 18 Ramban, 14 Kishtwar, 11 Kathua and five in Reasi district.
As against 244 fresh cases, 712 persons recovered from the virus today
As many as 307 recoveries were reported from Jammu district, 134 Poonch, 60 Rajouri, 56 Samba, 53 Udhampur, 45 Ramban, 24 Kishtwar, 17 Doda, nine Kathua and seven in Reasi district.
Jammu region’s total cases today went up to 1,16,498. Of them, 6472 are active positive while 1,08,004 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2022 casualties.
Out of 6472 active positive cases, maximum 2438 are in Jammu district followed by 1029 in Doda, 792 Poonch, 632 Rajouri, 400 Ramban, 353 Samba, 307 Udhampur, 199 Kishtwar, 162 Reasi and 160 in Kathua district.
Meanwhile, two women died of COVID-19 and 90 persons tested positive in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Two women aged 93 and 56 died in the hospital due to COVID-19. Both hailed from Nubra in Leh district.
Two casualties have taken Corona toll in Ladakh to 197—143 in Leh and 54 in Kargil.
Among 90 fresh cases, 77 were reported in Leh and 13 in Kargil district.
With new cases, Corona count in Ladakh has gone up to 19475 including 853 active positives and 18425 recoveries.
