Police recover fine of over Rs 11 lakh from SOP violators

SRINAGAR, June 12: Police today recovered a record fine of Rs 11,18,100 from 5943 individuals across Kashmir for violating COVID-19 SOPs while it also arrested 26 persons and lodged 7 FIRs.
It said that while continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of 2nd wave of Coronavirus, J&K Police have enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious Coronavirus
“During the last 24hrs, Police have arrested 26 persons, lodged 07 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of 11,18,100 from 5943 people throughout the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19. Besides, 14 vehicles were also seized for violating Covid norms in district Shopian,” a police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, on the directions of SSP Kupwara Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, Kupwara Police launched a special drive and distributed face masks among the general public in its jurisdictional Police Stations and Police Posts through concerned SHOs and In-charge PPs.
“People in the areas were advised to follow Covid- 19 guidelines and were also made aware about the symptoms of the virus,” police said.
