SRINAGAR, June 12: Police in Budgam today said to have arrested a notorious timber smuggler and seized illicit timber along with a horse near Panchayat Ghar Sugan area of Budgam.
During night patrolling, a police party from Police Station Khag intercepted one person carrying illicit timber swans laden on a horse.
“He has been identified as Nazir Ahmed Lone son of Ghulam Qadir Lone resident of Sugan Khag. The illicit timber along with horse has been seized,” police said.
Police said that he has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. On his disclosure, more illicit timber has also been recovered taking the total quantity to 30 Cfts.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 45/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khag and further investigation of the case is in progress.
