JAMMU, June 12: Former Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Bali Bhagat has reiterated the BJP’s commitment to keep overall development among its top priorities. He stated this while speaking during a function organized to kick start the construction work of causeway bridge near “Satsang Ashram Bias” in Keran area on Bantalab Gharota road here today along with JMC Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta, JMC Chairman Kuldip Singh.
While congratulating the people of Bhalwal block in particular on the occasion, Bali Bhagat said that it is really an irony that this bridge was sanctioned and allotted to the contractor for execution during financial year 2017-18 but the work was not started till date due to the inefficiency of the concerned department and administration.
Bhagat recalled that when he was part of the Government as Minister the widening of the road from Bantalab to Gharota-Agor was executed at an estimated cost of Rs.18 crore, but only this patch of causeway bridge was left over. He informed that this road widening was the second largest project of Raipur Domana Assembly constituency after the four lane road of Jammu-Akhnoor Highway. He said that it was after widening of this road that the passengers and other vehicles of Rajouri, Poonch, Nowshera, Sunderbani and other adjoining areas now prefer this road to reach Jammu. As of today this has become an alternative route for Jammu- Poonch Highway.
The former Minister said that during his tenure of three years in the BJP Government in J&K massive development took in J&K including the Raipur Domana Constituency in particular.
JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta while speaking on the occasion said, the Municipal Corporation stands fully committed to augment the development agenda of the Union Government to ease the life of the people of Jammu.
