One held with poppy straw

RAMBAN, June 13: Ramban police today foiled a narcotics smuggling bid on national highway at Jawahar Tunnel and arrested a truck driver with 180 kg of Poppy straw.
During the routine checking, a team of police station Banihal intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02Al-5292, which was on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu. During the process of checking, 180 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the driver of the vehicle namely Sanjay Singh son of Amar Singh, resident of Surinsar (Jammu), who was arrested on the spot.
During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed that he was illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Jammu. In this connection, a case FIR number 123/2021 U/S 08/15/NDPS Act was registered at police station Banihal and investigation set into motion.
