SRINAGAR, June 15: An online webinar was organized by Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS), J&K on the theme “Act Now: End Child Labour”.
Speakers in the webinar stressed upon the increase of child labour in tough times of global pandemic and measures to eradicate child labour in society.
Sheetal Nanda, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, presided over the session. Speaking about the measures to end child labour, Secretary said that cases related to child labour should be dealt actively by the child protection staff, they should not stick to their routine duties rather show a proactive approach.
“The staff should keep an active presence within their respective districts for children in need of care and protection,” she said. Nanda stressed upon generating awareness regarding role of child protection services and their contact details in public domain. She also assured her full support to the cause.
Mission Director ICPS stressed upon the role of Child Protection Services in reaching out to children in need of care and protection. While speaking on the theme “Act now: End Child Labour”, Mission Director ICPS, Shabnam Shah Kamili commented about the importance of the issue and its eradication from the society.
The session also observed the presence Nustrat Naqvi, Member, Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Abha Singhal Joshi Advocate and child protection expert in their role as resource persons.
While speaking, Nustrat Naqvi provided detailed guidance to the functionaries of Child Protection Services on their role in eradicating the menace of child labour and fast track dealing of such cases and providing relief and rehabilitation of children engulfed by child labour.
Abha Singhal Joshi stressed upon the legal aspects in dealing with children who are affected by child labour.
