JAMMU, June 16: Family members and relatives of a youth, who died due to electric shock, held protest and blocked the Jammu-Poonch road near Muthi Chowk, here today.
As per reports, a youth identified as Vishal Kalsi (employee engaged by vendor of a telecom company), son of Raj Kumar Kalsi, a resident of Barnai District Jammu got electrocuted while working.
He was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
Meanwhile, family members and relatives of the deceased assembled at Muthi Chowk and staged protest demanding compensation from the company for whom the youth was working. They also kept the body on the road and blocked the vehicular movement of Jammu-Poonch road.
After getting information, officers from civil administration and Police Department rushed to the spot and apprised the officers of the company regarding demand of the deceased family.
Immediate compensation was provided by the vendor of the telecom company and rest of the compensation will also be provided once the documentation completes, police sources said. “No untoward incident happened and the protest remained peaceful”, sources added.
Later, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
However, Domana Police has already taken cognizance in this regard.
