POONCH, June 16: Property worth lakhs was destroyed when a house was totally gutted in Surankote area of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that mishap took place in the afternoon, in a big Kucha house of one, Mohammed Kabir, son of Lal Mohd, resident of Gujjar Mohalla, Ward No. 7, Surankote. Since the entire house was made of wood, it engulfed the whole structure within short time. The family could not save its much belongings.
The Police and Fire Tenders rushed to the spot, but the most of the property had already been engulfed by flames. DySP Surankote Khaliq Choudhary, Tehsildar- Sheraz Ahmed and SHO, Jatinder Singh Sambyal also visited the spot. The affected family was accommodated in the neighbourhood. Some immediate assistance was also provided to the victim family by the local administration.
The cause of fire could not be immediately known, however, the police has registered a case in this connection.
