JAMMU, June 19: Police today arrested a man along with banned forest produce “trillium” worth Rs 3 lakh from Nagrota area of the winter capital.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Nagrota police station laid a naka near TCP Nagrota and intercepted a scorpio car bearing registration number JK12-2160.
During checking, police recovered 215 kilograms of banned forest produce “trillium” worth Rs 3 lakh and arrested one person, who has been identified as Mohd Yousuf, son of Noor Jamal of tehsil Gandoh, district Doda.
A case under 26 Forest Act has been registered, he said, adding that the accused and the vehicle seized were handed over to Forest Department, Rural Jammu for further action. Police party led by SHO OP Chib made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary.
