SRINAGAR, June 19: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked Congress president, Sonia Gandhi to come clear on the statement of senior Congress leader Makhan Lal Fotedar that there is no scope for autonomy for the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that clarification from Congress president would make things clear to the people of State and also would bring to fore the official stand of the party on giving autonomy to Jammu & Kashmir.
“Fotedar’s statement has created confusion among the people and it needs to be cleared by the Congress high command. Only the party president can make it clear that was he speaking on behalf of party or his own-self. If it is the stand of party then Congress should make it clear to the National Conference that there is no scope for autonomy in the state,” said Raina.
“Congress stalwart and former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao had said that sky is the limit when it comes to satisfying the political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The statement of Fotedar seems to go contrary to the view held by the Congress leaders in the past and as such the record needs to be set straight so that there is no more confusion among the ranks of public,” he said.
He said Sikhs have always maintained the rich cultural ethos of state and they have every right to seek answer from the Congress high command about the statement of Fotedar.
