SRINAGAR, June 19: Asserting that the health sector forms one of the priority sectors of the Government, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the Government has ensured creation of requisite infrastructure needed for it in order to provide quality medicare facilities to the people.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) meeting of Jawahar Lal Memorial Hospital (JLNM), Gousai and SR Gunj PHC, here today.
Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Medical Superintendent of Gousai, Jawahar Lal Memorial Hospital, Chief Medical Officer Srinagar besides other officers of PDD and R&B Departments were present on the occasion.
Mr. Sagar said that the Government has already introduced several schemes so that the qualities of health facilities being provided to the people are augmented properly. He said that the funds earmarked under the Rogi Kalayan Samiti by the Centre should be properly utilized in a judicious manner so that the benefit of it reaches the targeted populace.
He also directed the concerned to prepare a comprehensive project report for ensuring the relocation of shopkeepers of the Gousai Hospital to some other location so that the whole building can be utilized by the hospital. He also asked for under taking the renovation of the washrooms and other repairs in the hospital as well.
The Minister instructed the officers to ensure that the PHC at SR Gunj is provided with all the requisite facilities so that it can provide round the clock medicare facilities to the people living there and its catchment areas. He said that the Government has already undertaken to declare it as heritage site being the oldest hospitals in the city where various stalwarts of medical professionals of the State have practiced.
Mr. Sagar also directed the JKPCC officers to speed up work on the JLNM hospital and complete the remaining portion of work as soon as possible. He said that the hospital caters to a large chunk of population and urged for its early completion.
