JAMMU, June 21: Dwelling on the recent developments related to holding of PM’s all party meet at New Delhi on 24 June, president of National Awami United Party (NAUP), Sandeep Singh today questioned the rationale of not inviting NAUP in PM’s all party meet.
He stated that NAUP would have highlighted the people centric issues to Union Government, had the party been invited. “We would have questioned the PM on burning issue of drowning people of Jammu in liquor for filling coffers with revenue,” Singh said while addressing a press conference at party headquarters, here today.
The NAUP chief said the party would have told Prime Minister that UT Government should take care of those families and children orphaned by easy availability of liquor by Government and if Government is so much interested in collecting revenue why can not it spend out of the revenue earned by it from sale of liquor on children orphaned by easy availability of liquor.
He said the complete liquor ban is the only solution for all the ills faced by people of Jammu. “BJP led Government cannot use Jammuites as fodder for their interests and see them as some cash crop,” he added.
Other party leaders present on the occasion were Anil Dev, Bupinder Sharma, Karanjeet Singh, Rajesh Gandotra, Netar Pal, Mohit Kumar and Uttam Chand.
