JAMMU, June 21: In apparent violation of the Government order on closure of all educational institutions across the Union Territory till June 30, the Jammu University today announced to resume its normal working with 50 percent staff strength from tomorrow.
According to an order, issued today by JU Registrar, ‘all the non-teaching/non-gazetted Covid negative employees shall start attending their respective offices in Main Campus as well as Off- site campuses on all working days with 50 percent strength on rotational basis with effect from 22-06-2021 onwards whereas offline teaching activities shall continue to remain suspended till further orders.
Even as the JU claimed to have announced resumption of working in pursuant to Government order number 43-JK (DMRRR) of 2021, according to which all Government and private offices can function without restrictions subject to strict adherence to Covid appropriate behavior, the university has apparently violated the specific Government order on closure of schools, colleges, technical education and skill development institutions till June 30, 2021.
As per this order number 40-JK (DMRRR) of 2021, dated 15-06-2021, the universities and colleges shall be permitted to seek in person attendance of minimal staff, only for research and lab work.
However, in apparent violation of this order, the Jammu University has directed all the non-teaching/non-gazetted employees to start attending their respective offices with 50 percent strength on rotational basis.
