SRINAGAR, June 20: A Mehfil-e-Na’at was organized at S. P. College today in which participants from 27 Degree Colleges of the Valley attended.
Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA, Amira Kadal was the chief guest while Farooq Ahmad Shah, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar was the guest of honour.
The jury comprised Ghulam Hassan Gamgeen, Prof Mumtaz Ali Andrabi (Principal, GDC Kellam) and Prof. A. R. Bhat (Department of Geography, S. P. College).
The function started with the recitation of Na’at by Ghulam Hassan Gamgeen.
The Principal of the College emphasized on the importance and role of moral education for the overall development of youth.
Nasir Aslam Wani, an alumnus of the college, praised the Principal and faculty of the college for organizing events, which provide a platform for spiritual growth.
Farooq Ahmad Shah expressed pleasure for being a part of this soul searching function and underlined the need of morality and ethics for a peaceful existence of the human beings.
The Na’ats recited by the participants left the audience spell bound.
At the end, prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners and the participants.
Nelofar Maqbool (GDC Dooru), Aqib Asad (Amar Singh College) and Mahpara Akhter (SAM College Budgam) won the first, second and third prize respectively.
Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Principal, GDC (Boys) Anantnag, Prof. Tasleem Peer, Principal GDC for Women Nawakadal, noted broadcaster, Shamshad Kralwari and teachers from various degree colleges were present on the occasion.
