21-year-old girl among 8 die of COVID in Jammu, 3 in Kashmir

448 new cases in J&K, 10 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, June 24: Eleven persons died of COVID-19 including eight in Jammu region and three in Kashmir while 448 tested positive today.
Among eight Corona casualties in Jammu region, five were females including a 21-year-old girl. Three fatalities were reported from Jammu district, two in Doda and one each in Poonch, Ramban and Rajouri districts.
A 21-year-old girl hailing from Talab Tillo Jammu, who was suffering from jaundice and other ailments, succumbed to COVID-19 at SMGS Hospital after seven days of hospitalization.
A 78-year-old man from Muthi Maira Jourian and 70-year-old woman hailing from Kotli Shah Daula in RS Pura tehsil of Jammu district died of Coronavirus and co-morbidities at Military Hospital Akhnoor and Military Hospital Satwari respectively.
A 50-year-old woman from Ghat Doda and 71-year-old female from Mohalla Faridia Doda passed away in the GMC Doda. Both were positive for the virus. While Ghat woman had no co-morbidity, Mohalla Faridia woman was suffering from multiple ailments.
A 70-year-old woman from Mankote in Poonch district breathed her last due to COVID-19 in the Community Health Centre (CHC) Mendhar while 36-year-old man from Tanger in Ramban district died of virus in the SKIMS Srinagar. A 58-year-old man from village Neali Manjakote in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus in the GMC Rajouri.
In Jammu region, 183 persons today tested positive for COVID-19, the highest 47 in Reasi district followed by 23 each in Kishtwar and Doda districts, 22 Jammu, 19 Rajouri, 13 Udhampur, 12 Ramban, 11 Poonch, eight Kathua and five in Samba district.
As against 183 new cases, 170 persons recovered from the virus today. Maximum 43 recoveries were recorded in Jammu district, 28 in Rajouri, 20 Kathua, 17 Reasi, 16 Doda, 13 each Ramban and Poonch districts and 10 each in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts.
With today’s fresh cases, Jammu region’s Corona toll has gone up to 2087 including 1130 in Jammu district, 217 Rajouri, 149 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 118 Samba, 110 Doda, 88 Poonch, 61 Ramban, 42 Reasi and 41 in Kishtwar district.
Jammu region now has 1,18,848 Corona cases.
Number of active positive cases stood at 2510 while 1,14,251 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2087 casualties.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 10 new cases—eight of them in Leh and two in Kargil.
No Corona casualty was reported in Ladakh today.
Ladakh now has 19881 Corona cases including 338 active positives, 19341 recoveries and 202 casualties—144 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Srinagar reported 265 fresh cases of COVID-19 today with four persons succumbing to the viral infection.
One death each took place in SKIMS Soura, SMHS Srinagar, SKIMS Bemina and GMC Baramulla hospitals.
Srinagar reported 95 cases, Baramulla 32, Budgam 18, Pulwama 30, Kupwara 17, Anantnag 36, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 14, Kulgam 6 and Shopian 2.
As per officials figures, 69,524 positive cases including 824 deaths and 67,561 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,116 including 277 deaths and 22,341 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,415 including 21,708 recoveries and 202 deaths are from Budgam, 14,777 including 14,226 recoveries and 188 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,649 including 161 deaths and 13,043 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,936 including 15,362 recoveries and 198 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,217 cases including 8,904 and 99 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,505 including 9,224 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,947 including 10,573 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,542 including 5,462 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 194,628 including 188,404 recoveries and 2,197 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,537 including 4,027 from Kashmir division.
With 682 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 302,655, which is 96,54 percent of the total cases.
