Suicide attempt by girl foiled

SRINAGAR, June 26: Police in Ganderbal today said to have prevented a minor girl from committing suicide in the Shalhar Dab area of Ganderbal district.
A police party from PP Shadipora led by In-charge PP Shadipora SI Gulzar Ahmad during routine patrolling in the evening hours found a girl attempting to jump into the river Jehlum at village Shalhar Dab, Ganderbal.
“After noticing her movement as doubtful, the police party rushed towards her and foiled her suicidal attempt,” police said.
Police said that the rescued girl is a resident of Magam Budgam and was handed over to her parents after proper counselling. “General public of Ganderbal applauded this action of Police and parents expressed their gratitude to the Police for the swift response which saved a precious life,” police said.
