RAJOURI, June 26: Apni Party vice president and former minister, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali has demanded creation of Hill Development Council for Pirpanjal region to overcome from the under development and political neglect.
In a statement to the press today, Zulfikar said that the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch have remained neglected for decades with regard to development. He was conducting extensive tour of Darhal constituency today.
In the absence of basic amenities in rural areas of both the districts, he said, the Hill Development Council should be created for the betterment of the people who suffered badly.
“The Council must be created on the pattern of Leh and Kargil because of geographical disadvantages in Pir Panjal and harsh climatic conditions,” he said.
Zulfikar further said that the wars between India and Pakistan and incidents of ceasefire violations have created an atmosphere of fear-psychosis among the people living along the Line of Control.
“If the Council is created, it would ensure overall development by the local representatives and administration would be answerable to them,” he said.
Apni Party leader said that the people of these districts should be given their constitutional right by creating the Hill Development Council without further delay.
Meanwhile, Zuflikar condoled the demise of Syed Peer Yaseen Shah, father of District president, Rajouri, Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family members, he prayed for the peace of the departed soul and courage to the family members of the deceased person.
