Leading educationist delivers lecture of Toycathon

JAMMU, Jan 26: Five days grand finale of Digital Toycathon 2021 was held today at Yogananda College of Engineering &Technology ( YCET ). Prof. ( Dr.) Rajnikant, Director, College Development Council, University of Jammu, Jammu was the chief guest, Prof. ( Dr. ) Sumeet Gupta, Dean (Academic Affairs ), SMVDU, Katra was the special guest of honor, while Vivek Mahajan, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Reasi was the guest of honor.
Dr Rajnikant said that events like Toycathon 2021 encourage people to think outside the box and come up with something original and novel ideas. Further he said that participation is essential for participants’ general growth and learning new things. He emphasized the need of speaking up “ Vocal for local” to the local community and stated that product innovation is what will propel India forward. He advised that a knowledge base be established. He gave examples of Indians who led India to development one of them was A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Dean (Academic Affairs ), SMVDU, Katra believes that the entire concept of education has changed. He went on to say that events like Toycathon and Hackathons are essential for students to showcase their creativity. He also mentioned that these platforms are a great way for them to demonstrate their abilities and come up with something unique. He emphasized the need of learners being prepared to contribute to the world even before they graduate.
The guest of honor, Vivek Mahajan, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Reasi described that this inter-ministerial initiative for provides an opportunity for young people. This will shift India’s position in the global toy market, which is now at 8%. He went on to say that India’s path to progress will be paved with innovations. He also congratulates Chairman, Managing Director and Director YCET for achieving new heights in the field of Education.
The formal welcome address at valedictory session was given by Dinesh Gupta, SPOC, YCET.
Director, YCET Prof. (Dr.) A. K Srivastava gave the details of Toycathon 21.
At YCET Nodal Centre during Toycathon a 21 total of 20 teams participated and they presented and demonstrated their toys digitally. During 3 days the participants went through mentoring session, Coding / Toy Building and the evaluation. Based on the evaluation process, 5 teams were shortlisted by evaluators and the list submitted to AICTE. The evaluators further had power judgement round and the list submitted to AICTE. AICTE declared the final result on today in which 117 teams were selected across the country. The prizes of aprox. Rs 56 Lacs will be given to the winner
The proceedings of the day ended with emphasis on overall development of the students.
