Billawaria kick starts cleanliness of nallah in Ward 56

JAMMU, June 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and corporator, Baldev Singh Billawaria inspected various Nallahs which passes through the different areas of Jammu city and on which the cleanliness work is going on.
During the inspection, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials also accompanied him. He said that the cleanliness work of 103 Nallahs and 171 deep drains of Jammu city is being done by the Transport Wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Later Baldev Singh Billawaria kick started the cleanliness of Nallah Ward 56, Gangyal under Gandhi Nagar constituency. This Nallah during rainy days can cause damage and its cleaning to rid the people of problems in Monsoon is very important and essential.
Billawaria asked the officials to complete the cleaning work of all the Nallah in Jammu city so that people do not face any problem due to the overflowing or blocking of these Nallahs during the rainy season. He said that every year JMC starts the desilting work of deep drains but due to the encroachment and depletion of width of nallahs, water overflows during the rainy season at some places thereby causing havoc. He said that the overall width of nallahs has decreased to a great extent due to encroachment.
He said that the big nallahs have now been converted into small nallahs and small one into drains due to encroachment. Billawaria urged the Lt. Governor that a policy regarding smart drainage systems be prepared keeping in view the expansion of Jammu city in coming 20 years so that better drainage facilities could be provided to the citizens of Jammu city.
He said that drainage widening be done as per the pattern of road widening as it is also a necessary requirement in the near future.
