JAMMU, June 26: Condemning the arrest of villagers, including four Sarpanches in Bhaderwah demanding road connectivity, former PDP MLC, Firdous Tak today said the administration is burying its very spirit by criminalizing dissent and putting curb on rightful protests.
Eight persons, including Sparpanches were detained and booked by the administration after they staged a protest demonstration demanding road connectivity during the official visit of one of the Advisors of Lieutenant Governor to the Sub Division.
“It seems that the idea of democracy and its values are not permitted beyond Lakhanpur entry point into Jammu and Kashmir and administration has been let loose to trample rights of people,” Tak said.
He termed the administrative action as “uncalled for, unjustified and unsubstantiated.”
“While those sitting in New Delhi talk of reducing the gap between New Delhi and J&K, the administration in the UT is increasing the void between the power corridors and masses,” the PDP leader said demanding the FIR against all persons be withdrawn immediately and government should focus on resolving problems of masses instead using muscle power to curb their voices.
