SRINAGAR, June 21: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan reviewed the stock position of essential commodities in the state and its further distribution to the Government ration depots and Fair Price Shops at a high level meeting here this morning.
The meeting was attended by Secretary CA&PD, Mohammad Abass, Director CA&PD, Srinagar and Jammu.
The Minster directed both the Directors of CA&PD to ensure that all the ration card holders get ration as per quota every month regularly. He asked them to also ensure that Atta would also be supplied to the card holders as per quota as the people are complaining of non- availability.
Referring to the allotment of wheat for grinding to mills, the Minister directed for uniform allotment as per the procedure and stressed that it should be mandatory to all the floor mills that they shall cater their local areas first otherwise a stern action would be taken place against them.
Later, a deputation of Food and Supplies and Fair Price Shop Dealers Association led by Ajaz Ahmad Khan called on the Minister.
They put forth the charter of demands which includes re-organization of CA&PD department, absorption of Fair Price Shop Owners, regularization of daily wagers and redressing pay anomalies of the employees of the department.
The Minister gave them patient hearing and assured them that all the genuine demands would be redressed in a phased manner.
