JAMMU, June 21: A deputation of the residents of Bhagwati Nagar, under the leadership of Bhagwati Welfare Society President Pramod Kapahi held a massive protest outside the office of PHE Chief Engineer over the supply of contaminated water through water pipes in their areas.
As the Chief Engineer was away, Pramod Kapahi and other submitted a representation to the Superintending Engineer.
Pramod Kapahi, while briefing the Superintending Engineer about the grievances of the people, said that the people of Bhagwati Nagar are suffering for the last three months as the water supplied to them through pipes by PHE is totally contaminated. It is not fit for drinking but people are forced to drink it as they do not have any other source. The matter was brought into the notice of the senior officials of PHE many times but till date no action has been taken.
He urged the authorities to take immediate steps to check the supply of contaminated water failing which the people will be left with no other option but to adopt more aggressive stand.
