Another accused held in Punjab

R-day violence
NEW DELHI, June 28:
Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested Gurjot Singh, another accused in the Republic day violence case, from Amritsar.
According to an official of the Special Cell, Singh was charged with hoisting the flag at the Red Fort during the tractor-rally of farmers on Republic Day. The Delhi Police had also placed a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Gurjot’s arrest.
On January 26, farmers took out a tractor rally in protest against the three contentious farm laws– Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Besides, they also demanded a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for their crops.
During the rally, violent clashes took place in many areas of Delhi. A group of protesters had put up ‘religious flag’ at the Red Fort and Gurjot was also made an accused in the case. (UNI)
