NHPC CMD reviews progress of various HEPs in Chenab Valley

KISHTWAR, June 28: Chief Managing Director (CMD) NHPC Abhay Kumar Singh reviewed the progress of works of 1000 MW Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project (HEP), 624 MW Kiru HEP, 540 MW Kwar HEP and 930 MW Kirthai-II HEP being implemented by CVPPPL, during his 3-day tour to the union territory.
During his visit which commenced on June 25, the CMD was accompanied by A K Choudhary (MD, CVPPPL), Rajan Kumar (CGM, NHPC RO, Jammu). Enroute, he also visited sites of major components of 850 MW Rattle HE Project being implemented by Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (a JV of NHPC & JKSPDC) in Chenab Valley.
The next day, Abhay Kumar Singh met with Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lt Governor of J&K UT at Kishtwar and discussed various issues of projects. Thereafter, the CMD visited Pakal Dul HE Project and inaugurated 90 Metre Single Span 70 R Steel Truss Bridge on river Chenab and started MIV Cavern concreting. He interacted with the representatives of M/s Afcon-JAL JV, M/s L&T Ltd and M/s Voith Hydro Private Limited (contractors of Pakal Dul HE Project) and reviewed the progress of works.
During the visit, Singh reviewed the progress of Power House Cavern, Transformer Hall Cavern, Bus Ducts, approach road to Surge Shaft Top, Surge Shaft Road Tunnel, Valve House, HRT-TBM Platform area and advised the concerned to put in more efforts to complete the activities within the stipulated time frame. On way to Kiru HE Project, Singh took a view of locations of major components of Kwar HE Project.
The CMD laid the foundation stone of Residential Complex of Kiru and Kwar HE Projects and 102 metre span 70 R Steel Truss Bridge across River Chenab at Pathernaki. On last leg of his tour, the CMD visited Dam Site of Pakal Dul HE Project and inspected the ongoing works of Diversion Tunnel, Head Race Tunnel, Spillways etc.
During his visit, he inaugurated 500 KWp Grid Connected Solar Power Plant installed by NHPC’s Dulhasti Power Station (J&K), which is estimated to generate 657000 KWh units per year. He visited the power house of Dul Hasti Power Station and inspected the operation and maintenance works of power house.
