Turmeric, jeera rise on buying support

NEW DELHI, June 22:  Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries amid low stocks.
Restricted arrivals from producing belts also supported the uptrend.
Turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 6,500- 11,500 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also higher by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 12,900-13,500 and Rs 16,900-17,500 per quintal, respectively.
Traders said buying support from retailers and exporters against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
The following are today’s quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 10,500-17,000, black pepper (per kg) 400-525, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,055 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,070-1,200.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 640-740, cardamom (colour robin) 590-690, cardamom bold 640-690, cardamom extra (bold) 790-890 and cloves (kg) 700-825. (PTI)
