DC introduces regular follow up on important issues

Excelsior Correspondent
LEH, June 22: Deputy Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh today started a practice of conducting the District Officers meeting as a regular feature of district administration for inter-departmental coordination and follow up on various important issues.
The DC termed it as a routine feature which has been introduced to have regular follow up on various important issues in the district which otherwise get lost in the absence of regular and routine follow up.
He directed all the District Officers to get all construction/developmental works under their supervision labelled which should depict name of the scheme, year of commencement and estimated cost of construction. The DC observed that in the absence of such information, it becomes difficult to monitor the progress of various developmental works.
The DC termed it as a step towards proactive disclosure under Section 4(1) of the RTI Act. Directions were also given to get all the offices named in local language apart from the usual practice of mentioning only in English.
Further as the Chairman of Leh Service Selection Board (SSB), the DC directed all District Officers to furnish the list of their promotion and direct quota vacancies for fast track recruitment. He issued a calendar for DPCs for the entire district and directed the Secretary, Leh SSB to initiate the direct quota recruitment.
