Governor reviews arrangements at Baltal, Domel, Panjtarni, Holy Cave camps

SRINAGAR, June 22 : N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, reviewed the arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra and visited the Yatra Camps at Baltal, Domel, Panjtarni and Holy Cave today to take stock of the arrangements made so far.
The Governor, accompanied by Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, inspected the arrangements at the Holy Cave, Panjtarni and Domel and held meetings with the concerned officers at these three camps. Later, he inspected the arrangements at the Baltal Base Camp and chaired a high level review meeting there.
Among those present in the review meeting at the Baltal Base Camp included Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO, SASB; P. S. Sandhu, IG BSF; Sarmad Hafiz, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal; Shahid Mehraj, SP, Ganderbal; Brig (Retd) Khanna from the National Disaster Management Authority; R. K. Pandita, GM (Works), SASB; senior officers of the Police and Security Forces and concerned District and Divisional officers of PDD, PHE, CAPD, PWD (R&B), Health, Forests and Environment, Labour, Animal Husbandry, BSNL and the other concerned Departments.
Taking an extensive review of the arrangements put in place to facilitate the Yatris, the Governor asked all the concerned Government Departments, service providers and all other agencies to complete the entire remaining work on this axis also before  June 26, 2013 so that all the arrangements and logistics are positioned well in time before the commencement of the Yatra on 28th June.
The Governor while reviewing the positioning of Mountain Rescue Teams on the track and the Disaster Management measures, emphasized the need for ensuring prompt response in case of any emergent situation. For this purpose, he asked all the concerned agencies to ensure greater coordination at all levels.
The Governor asked the Langar organizations to provide only the prescribed Food Menu diet to pilgrims. He impressed upon all the Departments, service providers and all other stakeholders to maintain cleanliness and ensure protection of environment and ecology in the Yatra area. He issued instructions for taking stringent sanitation measures and keeping the area neat and clean.
During his visit to Domel, the Governor reviewed arrangements in regard to Access Control Gate management and shelters put in place for the convenience of Yatris in case of bad weather. He reiterated that no Yatri without valid Registration should be allowed to cross the Access Control Gates.  He directed that all the Camp areas should have adequate lighting arrangements.
During round of the Baltal Base Camp, the Governor inspected the Sewage Treatment Plant and other sanitation arrangements.
The Governor also reviewed the arrangements made, interalia, for provision of facilities of water and power supply, medicare, transport and traffic arrangements, Public Address System, Fire and Emergency Services, telecommunication, security, weather forecasting, ration and other essential commodities, control rooms and operation of helicopters.
